In terms of outdoor structures, there aren't too many options that beat backyard sheds.  Gazebos are nice, pergolas are beautiful, and treehouses are a lot of fun, but none of them compare to the functionality of a storage shed.  Don't discount any of those other structures based purely on their functionality, just bear it in mind when you're weighing building options for your backyard.
