Is it time to double-down in Afghanistan? Is it time to send more of our fellow citizens to a long hard slog in a country whose synonym is Quagmire? As our economy is being outsourced, our debt monetized and our infrastructure crumbles will we meekly follow the leader deeper into a thankless nation-building campaign in the Little Bighorn of nations that’s resisted and foiled every empire from Alexander to Moscow? Or is it time to re-think America’s international military commitments? Though settled by European kingdoms seeking empires the United States wasn’t founded to become an empire. Individuals fought against the empire building tyrants until their determination and resolve won independence against all odds.
George Washington warned us to avoid foreign entanglements. Thomas Jefferson outlined the essential principles of our government which included this advice concerning foreign affairs, “peace, commerce, and honest friendship with all nations entangling alliances with none.”

Dear President Obama,
I write this letter as a form of outreach to some of my fellow Illinois Republicans as well as to the mentally challenged members of your party. You see, I generally oppose the actions of liberals and "moderates", but am being told that my values should not play such a key role in decisions of a political nature. This is an olive branch, if you will, to the supporters of Illinois RINO Mark Kirk and to what is perhaps the worst administration in American history.
I do not approach this communication lightly, as what I suggest does not serve my interests or those of my family. I am doing this as a contribution to the Mark Kirk for Senate campaign, so please give this letter due consideration as it is likely the only contribution Mark Kirk's campaign will receive from me. What I suggest today may be a bold way for you, Mr. President (gosh that hurts to type, are you sure you don't want to resign and perhaps be remembered as doing one thing that was good for your country?), to reach across the aisle and grasp a tangible, albeit artificial claim on being post-partisan.

Everyone routinely called them the Mainstream Media. Rush now calls them the State Controlled Media. I’ve called them the Mainstream Media, the Poodle Press, and the Lap-Dog Media. Whatever you’ve called them the time’s come to call them irrelevant? Out with the old and in with the new.
When news organizations consistently slant their coverage and ignore major stories because they don’t fit their template or further their agenda it’s time to re-evaluate what they are. They portray themselves as objective yet everyone can see they’re partisan publicists for a particular party and a particular radical left-wing of that party. Study after study shows the Corporations Once Known as the Mainstream Media are perceived by the public as advocates whose left-wing agenda is self-serving and deceptive. Instead of the fourth branch of government, honest brokers working to keep the public informed they’ve degenerated into craven corporate cheerleaders for Progressivism
Ever since Walter Cronkite denounced America’s commitment in Vietnam the corporate media have championed increasingly radical left-wing causes. They first joined the Democrat Party in all but name. Then they joined the extreme liberal wing of that Party. Now they’ve joined the Cavalcade of Czars in the statist campaign to re-make America.

Dimocrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney (NY14), who appears to be the product of an early experiment in human cloning (see picture),
has introduced
H.R. 3602 which has the stated purpose:
To allow certain newspapers to be treated as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 and exempt from tax under section 501(a) of such Code.
This is ingenious! Rep. Maloney, spawn of Helen, has realized that the traditional sources of Dimocrat propaganda cannot compete with unbiased sources of actual information. In typical lib fashion, Maloney proposes a welfare program to support entities such as the New Yor Slimes.

As hard as it might be to fathom any infestation of political parasites being more invasive, destructive, or slime-ridden than those that ooze from Chicago's political septic tank, we may have found such an entity. The fact that the Massachusetts Dem scum voted in their state House to change the Senate succession rules now that they have a Statist governor again is not surprising. What is incredible, though, is the blatant hypocrisy and near-admission of the true principles of the modern Dimocrat Party.
There can be no serious discussion of the legitimacy of this decision, as the party in power can apparently do as it pleases and in places like Massachusetts and Illinois there is no concern for a political backlash. In Illinois, for example, not even the Republican Party wants to stray from the liberal agenda as is evidenced by the favored status of RINO Mark Kirk to replace Arlen Specter (but in Roland Burris' seat) in the Senate. In Massachusetts, they keep sending Barney Frank to the House to create housing crises and slobber on taxpayer-purchased microphones. Massachusetts has a terrible history on the Senate side, having repeatedly sent Gigolo John Heinz-Kerry and the late Chappaquiddick breast-stroke gold medalist from 1969 to pollute the Senate.

The esteemed RINO being trumpeted as the only one who can beat the Democrat (the one that admits to being a Democrat) in next year's race to fill the seat currently kept warm by Senator Roland "ACORN needs your money" Burris, Mark Kirk, strikes me as the sterotypical politician. The fact that he is the establishment choice (including that of the NRSC) to be the Republican nominee for the Senate seat rivals the news that Andy McKenna is running for Governor of Illinois as an indicator that that the Republican Party in Illinois is in the proverbial porcelain pond. Regardless of the spin of the faithfull party hackery, the effective slogan (adapted from Ric Flair's trademark phrase) 'to beat the Dems, you have to be the Dems', poses a lose - lose situation for the principled constituency.
We, as citizens of Illinois (as well as citizens of The United States) indeed lose either way if RINO Mark Kirk takes February's primary. The worst case scenario is that Alexi Giannoulias beats him in November 2010 and Illinois keeps up its tradition of electing the sleaziest of Democrats to the Senate. The alternate scenario (as there is no "best case" if the RINO Kirk makes November's ballot) is that we send Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain, and fellow Senate RINOs a replacement for their dearly departed (across the aisle to where they and Kirk belong) "moderate" Dem-lite RINO colleague, Arlen Specter.

A mass email carried a message from President Obama after his address to Congress. He asked people to contact their representatives urging them to support his healthcare plan. Since the Democrats have the votes in both houses to pass any legislation they agree upon why does he need our help to convince anyone of anything? Was he speaking to the nation or was he trying to rally his Democrat troops to toe the line and pass his bill?
The mass email also provides a link to President Obama’s bill. His bill isn’t a thousand pages long. It isn’t even one. It’s one half- page in three columns with bullet points which means Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and the Regulatory Czar will fill in the blanks. It “Offers a public health insurance option to provide the uninsured and those who can’t find affordable coverage with a real choice” No trigger. No equivocation. The President proposes a government option.

These are the people that Washington politicians use as target practice in their spitting contests. These are the people who served their country. These are the people who work hard to care for their families. These are the people who care about their communities and their faiths. These are the people who Barack Obama would call "bitter" clinging to guns and the Bible. These are real people and real Americans. These are people who are sick and tired of irresponsible government spending and intrusive government policies. These are the people who believe in government "by the people" and "for the people" instead of the Washington D.C. and Springfield, IL ideas regarding government domination of the people.
We gathered on a perfect Saturday afternoon to honor our veterans, past and present. We came together to remember the attacks (which Obama would have us forget) that occurred against innocent Americans on September 11, 2001. We talked of Cap and Trade, Healthcare reform, spending, trade, and the over-reaching irresponsibility of our state and federal governing bodies. We spoke of a document President Obama views as "flawed", the Constitution.
