Today's on-line version of The Telegraph has the first of two articles about the problem of “sexting”.Kathie Bassett writes in "'Sexting' common among teens" sub-title "Educators struggle to control trend":
"Sexting" is the act of sending a nude photo or video of oneself or an explicit text message to another person's cell phone.
These photos have a tendency to be forwarded by the recipient to many other people, often without the knowledge of the person who sent the image. Sometimes, as many as 50 other people might see an image the same day it is sent to the intended recipient.
Of course this phenomenon is an indicator and a product of the depths to which society has fallen. It should surprise no one that the generators of the problem now seek (more government) ways in which to cope with it. More from Ms. Bassett's piece:
"Some guys just use girls to get the pictures," she said. "It's free porn."
Are the teens playing naive, or are they simply uninformed regarding the legal ramifications of their behaviors?
"My friends don't see it as a crime; otherwise, they wouldn't do it," she said. "We've never had any kind of discussion like that."
Both students expressed confusion over the fact that sexting involving underage teens is considered a felony in violation of child pornography laws and could leave a teen labeled as a sex offender for the rest of his or her life.
Each felt parents, as well as educators, need to speak more openly with teenagers about the issue.
In particular, the two teens advocate that schools take a larger role in educating teens on the dangers of sexting.
"The school has a responsibility to make people aware this shouldn't be done. It goes along with sex education," he said. "Teens are meeting one another in school, so it needs to be made public there."
The dramatic increase in teens participating in sexting is causing educators to scrutinize their district's cell phone policies urgently to determine the best way to address this issue.
Educators have facilitated the damn trend! They have certainly joined entertainers, parents who want to be "cool" or just don't consider their responsibilities, and the liberal pushers of societal degradation to bring things such as "sexting" into the lives of children. Planned Parenthood, one of the few entities liberals view as an acceptable recipient of profit, is heavy into sex education for the children of our nation. Anyone doubt that the loosening of morals among the young impacts the bottom line of America's largest chain of abortion mills? Want to be a "cool" parent? Just send your teens to Planned Parenthood's Teen Talk and get the party started!
How many young lives must be ruined by the liberal intrusions into child-rearing? Is the antidote to liberal moral degradation, more liberal moral degradation? Does anyone know what the policy of ACORN High School for Social Justice is on liberal moral degradation in education? Side note: I wonder if they have a series of courses on voter fraud.
The problem of "sexting", as disgusting and alarming as it is, shares common threads with many other problems faced by modern American citizens. The ever-growing government and indoctrination in educational institutions are conspiring to shift authority and responsibility away from their rightful places. Parents should be the solution to the "sexting" problem, but that would contradict the need for further liberal government involvement. The liberal imposed lack of individual rights and responsibilities is a huge factor in this and every other problem that faces the nation's electorate. Don't worry though, further intrusions into child-rearing will fix the problem... just like the government is fixing the other problems.
