Do we need a Senate quota?

Are Senator Roland Burris' supporters actually supporters of the senator? Not if they share the opinion of his media consultant, Delmarie Cobb. From AP News via: TheTelegraph:

CHICAGO (AP) -- The black community should help rehabilitate U.S. Sen. Roland Burris' battered image so he can be elected to a six-year term, then work to find an African-American successor, according to talking points prepared by the senator's new media consultant.

In a note sent to a member of the City Council's Black Caucus and later posted on an Internet blog, Delmarie Cobb made it clear she believes the main objective of the black community, regardless of how some might feel about Burris, should be to keep a black person in President Barack Obama's former Senate seat.

Burris is the only black U.S. senator.

"Holding onto the Senate seat is bigger than Roland," wrote Cobb, a Chicago-based consultant who worked as a surrogate speaker for now-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign.

It is not the quality, character, or ability of Senator Burris that is worthy of support. It is not even his positions on the issues that face our nation that should be considered. Skin color is the key. Perpetuating racial divisiveness and keeping race-hustlers like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson in business are the prime considerations for supporters such as Ms. Cobb. Can someone explain how the color of one's skin can be reasonably viewed as the primary basis for his qualification for a position? I would be curious to know if Sen. Burris is at least a little offended by this attitude that his skin color is his primary qualification or that it is his skin color that determines his worth. I would also be curious to know how many black citizens are offended by this type of proclamation that they are not equal to other citizens. Of course Ms. Cobb's statement is such a proclamation. What else could it be? Do these racists (yes, racists) want a quota in the Senate and/or other government bodies? How would this affirmative action program work? Should the quotas be limited to skin color and if so, should there be different quotas for different shades of color? I would suggest that clear-thinking citizens would want the best candidate for an office to hold that office. Of course there is a diversity of opinion regarding what makes a candidate the best as is evidenced by the incredibly devastating election of Barack Obama as this nation's president, however these diverse views cannot include skin color in the mix... unless the opinion holder is a racist.

IL State Rep Dunkin Is A Doughnut Gun Grab Act of 2009

The Illinois General Assembly unfortunately includes representatives from Cook County (Chicago Politics anyone?) and this unfortunate fact once again presents a dangerous threat to the law-abiding citizens of Illinois. If only there were a North Illinois and a South Illinois, sigh. A frequent reader of this site has alerted me to this particular, yet not all that surprising threat. Rep. Kenneth Dunkin (D "shocker"- 5th district) has introduced HB0687 or the 'Dunkin Is a Doughnut Gun Grab Act of 2009.' The nefarious legislation's synopsis fits perfectly into the ideals of an Obamanation:

Synopsis As Introduced Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that any person who owns a firearm in this State shall maintain a policy of liability insurance in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person. Provides that a person shall be deemed the owner of a firearm after the firearm is lost or stolen until such loss or theft is reported to the police department or sheriff of the jurisdiction in which the owner resides. Provides that the Department of State Police shall revoke and seize a Firearm Owner's Identification Card previously issued under this Act if the Department finds that the person to whom such card was issued possesses or acquires a firearm and does not submit evidence to the Department of State Police that he or she has been issued in his or her name a liability insurance policy in the amount of at least $1,000,000 specifically covering any damages resulting from negligent or willful acts involving the use of such firearm while it is owned by such person. Effective January 1, 2010.

Dunkin Doughnut apparently has a cream-filled cranium if he doesn't know that law-abiding citizens do not, by definition, commit crimes with guns (or anything else.) Those that commit murder, armed robbery, or any other crimes with guns do not adhere to, you guessed it, laws! This common sense bit of information leads a sane person to wonder what the end to this gun grabber's means is intended to be. Why does Rep. Doughnut want a disarmed citizenry? What good can be achieved by growing the potential victim pool for violent criminals? "What's the frequency, Kenneth?" Perhaps he has his eyes on being President Obama's Gun Control Czar. If you object to this trampling of your liberty and unintended bonanza for violent criminals, please contact your state reps and let them know where Dunkin's bill should be stuffed.

HuffPo's Cristina Page's Redistributive Goals

I occasionally visit the vile Huffington Post because I believe it is important to know what the enemies of liberty and responsibility are advocating. It was also the original inspiration for this blog, as one might have surmised in reading the title Malignant Liberal Idiocy. Today's visit provided the usual sense of anger and disbelief as I skimmed the summaries of the sewage posted within the on-line septic tank. One piece in particular caught my eye because noted HuffPo abortion advocate, Cristina Page, was once again attempting to diminish the actions and motives of decent people (or as she calls them: "so-called anti-abortion movement") because some of them disagree with her taxpayer funded birth control bonanza ("hand-out" doesn't seem to be anatomically correct here.) Cristina Page: "Pro-Life" Movement Admits Pro-Abortion Stance.

Sometimes referred to as "The Pro-life Paradox," researchers and women's health advocates in recent years have drawn attention to the disparities between the mission statements of so-called "anti-abortion" groups and the effects of their policies. For example, the countries considered the most "pro-choice," where contraception is widely available and abortion is legal, and often free of charge, are those that also have the lowest abortion rates in the world. The countries with the highest rates of abortion are those that have adopted the policies of the so-called "anti-abortion" movement and have banned abortion and opposed efforts to make contraception more widely available.

Ever notice how phrases like "women's health advocates" are used in the place of more accurate descriptions such as 'baby killing advocates' or 'preventing health of future women advocates'? Apparently "pro-life" leaders are actually pro-abortion because they don't approve of the use of taxpayer funds to distribute "free" condoms and birth control pills. It is apparently a pro-abortion stance to believe in personal responsibility. I suppose it is religious zealotry to believe that a person should be responsible for his or her choices. It is a good thing that the world has entities such as The Huffington Post, NARAL, and other crusaders against morality to alert the populace to the devious actions that can be associated with anything moral so they can know what must be disregarded as religious fanaticism. The advocates for prevention of future women (and their health) would have us believe that birth control is not "widely available" unless the government provides it! This notion is incredibly idiotic and it indicates the actual goal of these people. In the spirit of President Barack "Born Alive, Let Them Die" Obama's affinity for wealth redistribution, these "pro-choice" groups seek redistribution of resources from the responsible to the irresponsible with the government as the conduit. Of course they seek redistribution in the form of rubbers, pills, and abortions... oh and education dollars to promote the use of rubbers, pills, and abortions... oh and education dollars to teach people how to acquire rubbers, pills, and abortions at the expense of others. Responsibility should not be limited to taking money from the productive to distribute to the unproductive, which is the only responsibility the libiots can stomach. Personal responsibility should not be discouraged and this is what our government does when it takes from those that work to buy birth control for those that don't. Mrs. Page might conveniently ignore the fact that no unintended pregnancy, with the exception of rape, ever resulted without engaging in sexual intercourse, but it is disingenuous to do so. It would be a start if people like Mrs. Page would at least admit their goals. Admitting you have a problem is a good first step.

WaPo's Desperate Gitmo Closure Sales Pitch

"Big Brother" Barry must need an increase in public support for his idiotic plan to close Gitmo. David Axelrod must have told his unofficial staff at The Washington Obamost that the numbers aren't where they should be in order to achieve the closure of the detention facility and maintain the impression of overwhelming public support. What else could explain Washington Obamost Staff Writer Rajiv Chandrasekaran's heart-wrenching assertion that suicide bomber and former guest at the Guantonomo Bay resort (at our expense,) Abdallah Saleh al-Ajmi, only became a suicide bomber because he was held captive by the evil Americans who for some unknown reason take issue with terrorist activities. Of course not all Americans take issue with terrorists. In fact, the former occupant of the fictional Office of the President-elect has a long held  association with a couple of terrorists... but it is okay, because even though Bill Ayers and Bernadine "Dig it" Dohrn are proud of what they did and believe they should have done more, Obama didn't know them during the time period in which their crimes were committed. Therefore the FFT (Feckless Fifty Two percent) chose to ignore the fact that Obama knew of their crimes and did not let their unrepentant attitudes prevent him from launching his political career by kissing their rings in their own living room or working with Ayers on funneling Annenberg Foundation grant money to radical "education" projects. Nothing to see here. Hey, maybe Bill Ayers and The Weather Underground were able to predict the future and could foresee a time when innocent terrorists would be held captive and fed well by the vicious U.S.A. so in a way they too were forced by Gitmo into becoming violent criminals. The Obamost headline sets the stage, "From Captive To Suicide Bomber." This leaves little doubt as to where the writer is laying the blame for the actions of the subject terrorist. The article doesn't waste any time in its attempt to portray this mass murderer as a tragic hero and as the true victim.

The scraggly beard that his young son once loved to play with had been shaved off, leaving only an exiguous moustache. His curly, shoulder-length locks had been clipped down to a crew cut. Gone, too, were the crisp, white headdress he often wore and any semblance of the good humor once familiar to his family. He was sullen and angry -- still bitter about being locked up for almost four years at the high-security U.S. detention center on the southeastern coast of Cuba. "Praise be unto God, who evacuated me from Guantanamo prison and joined me with the Islamic State of Iraq," he intoned. As the camera's light cast an outsize shadow behind his head, he wagged his finger and issued a vow: "We are going, with permission from God, to God -- glory be unto him. We will enter the nests of apostasy."

The writer then grudgingly shares that:

At 6:15 a.m. on March 23, 2008, not long after making the video, Ajmi drove a pickup truck filled with 5,000 to 10,000 pounds of explosives, hidden in what appeared to be white flour sacks, onto an Iraqi army base outside Mosul. He barreled though the entrance checkpoint and past a fusillade of gunfire from the sentries, shielded by bulletproof glass and makeshift armor welded to the cab. The Easter Sunday blast killed 13 Iraqi soldiers, wounded 42 others and left a 30-foot-wide crater in the ground. It remains the single most heinous act of violence committed by a former Guantanamo detainee.

The very next paragraph mentions the difficulty an instance such as this creates for President Obama and his noble plan to close Gitmo. This difficulty must be addressed and since the Obama Presidency is all about show and theater, perhaps the best way to deal with the difficulty is to script a story worthy of Hollywood. The tale must be told from the perspective of the innocent Taliban lackey that is caught by mistake and transformed by the evil Americans into a violent killer. I smell some self-congratulatory award on the way. Perhaps Sean Penn can take home next year's best actor Oscar for playing the tragic hero, Abdallah Saleh al-Ajmi.

Since his death, U.S. intelligence agencies have sought to determine when Ajmi became a hard-core jihadist. Was it in the late 1990s, when he came under the sway of a radical preacher while serving in the Kuwaiti army? Was it in 2001, when he allegedly joined the Taliban? Was it upon his release in 2005, when extremists back home celebrated him as the "Lion of Guantanamo"? Or is the answer potentially more alarming: Was his descent into unrepentant radicalism an unintended consequence of his incarceration?

Is there any question as to what caused this tragedy? Not to The Obamost. Even Ajmi's lawyer thinks he was changed during his time at the resort. If the terrorist's parasitic lawyer says America is to blame for creating a terrorist (which apparently took place after the arrest for ...being a terrorist) then how could anyone doubt it? Please read the long sad tale in The Obamost to find out how being detained and well fed makes a small fish terrorist into a big fish terrorist and how in the future we damn well better not detain terroists if we don't want them to get really mad at us.

Obama's Business Punishment Plan

I wanted to comment on the Obamacrisy of the former occupant of the fictional Office of the President-elect's touting the tax relief 95% of Americans should begin receiving by April 1. According to Michelle Obama's campaign rhetoric, the tax relief might enable a person to make weekly lay-away payments on her $600 pair of ear rings, but now that she has reason to be proud of her country it is a good thing. Michelle Malkin and several others have covered this so I will move on to "Big Brother" Barry's "ambitious" business punishment plan, or as he would call it, his budget proposal. The Washington Obamost, which doesn't even care pretend not to be an arm of Obama's propaganda machine, has the glorious news of Barry's private sector job killing budget ideas in "Obama to Unveil an Ambitious Budget Plan."

President Obama is putting the finishing touches on an ambitious first budget that seeks to cut the federal deficit in half over the next four years, primarily by raising taxes on business and the wealthy and by slashing spending on the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, administration officials said.

So he jets and campaigns across the nation with trademark show-over-substance to stoke support for the deficit-bloating pig roast that is supposed to stimulate the economy with STD prevention and now he is concerned about the deficit. By the way, I figured out how STD prevention creates jobs. You see, all the people that have lost jobs in manufacturing, sales, or service industries can go to work for for "Big Brother" and get paid per condom distributed.I also believe that the $400 million to study global warming can create jobs as follows. Some displaced workers can collect federal funds to sit in their homes as a means of offsetting the emissions that are created by all of Barry's campaign trips. Back to "Big Brother" Barry's ambition. I'll bet Hugo Chavez thinks of him as something of an honorary son, and has reason to be proud. Obama's disdain for the private sector and liberty would appear to make him a chip off the old Venezualan block. The similarities between Chavez and Obama are worth consideration:

• Chavez just accomplished the abolition of presidential term limits and some libiot congressman proposed doing the same in this country shortly before the dark day of the Obama inauguration.
• Chavez shut down voices of opposition through licensing of media outlets and "Big Brother" Barry's acting FCC stooge wants to silence conservative talk radio in the same fashion.
• They are both fond of domestic terrorist William Ayers.

It is a good thing Obama is talking down protectionism, considering his upcoming assault on American business. Raisng taxes on the sources of productivity and employment is a great way to spur growth... as long as the desired growth is in government dependents! The bright side is that it ensures a growing block of voters that will surrender personal liberty as they are forced into the collective. You go, Barack! Close those private businesses! Who the hell do business owners think they are, trying to make a profit? Barry'll show them. The Obamorons won't be happy until the only way a person can make a profit is by becoming a liberal entertainer. The Obamost also touts "Big Brother" Barry's plan to trap a larger portion of the population into depending on the state for medical care:

Obama's budget request would create "running room for health reform," the official said, by reducing spending on some health programs so the administration would have money to devote to initiatives to expand coverage. The biggest target is bonus payments to insurance companies that run managed-care programs under Medicare, known as Medicare Advantage.

And this scary thought:

Administration officials also are debating whether to permit people as young as 55 to purchase coverage through Medicare. That age group is particularly vulnerable in today's weakened economy, as many have lost jobs or seen insurance premiums rise rapidly. The cost would depend on whether recipients were offered a discount or required to pay the full price of coverage.

Sick, isn't it? How do we recover from the Obamorons attempts to facilitate "recovery?"

Illinois All Kids: Recruiting Victims

Nearly two weeks ago my wife and I welcomed another child to the world. Perhaps I should have apologized to her since at the time of her conception (which Barack Obama might refer to as "a mistake" and of course our little angel would be a "punishment") I couldn't imagine that the electorate could sink so far as to give us the election results from November... but I still hold some hope that she'll grow up and know the liberty that Americans should be able to expect. [gallery link="file" columns="2"] A couple of days ago my wife said "listen to this" and proceeded to tell me about an alarming letter we had just received from the hospital at which we had welcomed our bundle of joy. The letter was to inform us that we may be eligible for an All Kids Insurance Rebate of up to $75 a month! Whoo hoo! Illinois state government's largess no longer needs to be sought, it now seeks. Libiots love to mislead about the necessity of ever-expanding government programs to deal with the tragedy of all the children that don't have insurance. How often do they highlight the fact that their programs are intended to encompass as many dependents as possible, not just the children that don't have insurance? At least in Illinois, the taxpayers' cup overflows so much that the state (and I believe this might have been the brain child of hair helmet, senate seat salesman Rod Blagojevich) wants to have its hands in providing for those that do have insurance! From the alarming letter:

If you carry insurance privately or through your employer, you may be eligible for an All Kids Insurance Rebate up to $75 per covered household member for health insurance premiums paid. All Kids is the State of Illinois health insurance program that provides Illinois families with affordable and comprehensive health care for children, regardless of family income, immigration status, or medical condition. Higher income families may have co-pays and premiums based on reported family income.

It is good to know that illegal aliens are not being shut out by this glorious bit of wealth redistribution. The "reported family income" reminds me of an all too  common scenario from my younger days. While I was employed as a CNA at a local hospital, one of my co-workers spoke openly of the expensive dolls she collected and the amenities of her husband's custom conversion van. So what, right? She was a part time employee by choice and her children were covered by Medicaid thanks to her husband being paid "under the table." "Reported income" indeed. Given the irresponsible "Robin Hood" mindset that was displayed by the FFT (Feckless Fifty Two percent) in November, I suppose that programs such as Illinois All Kids will only continue to grow. It is apparently common understanding that it is the government-forced responsibility of the gainfully employed to subsidize the personal lives of the unemployed and the less gainfully employed (not to mention the under-the-table employed.) I suppose it is acceptable to complain about unemployment while inviting illegal aliens in to undermine the state's citizen workforce because, after all illegal aliens can be government dependents too. I wonder how many people get this type of letter and think that the government is trying to help them. How many of those that apply for these rebates stop to think about from where the money comes? It doesn't really matter if you subscribe to the Obama apologist thought process that government can take care of everything without being intrusive and even if it is intrusive, it intrudes more on the evil bastards that work for a living than on the innocent victims that welcome its assistance.

Obama's Hosing of the Responsible

It seems fitting that the former occupant of the fictional Office of the President-elect is returning to his core competency in the midst of the current crisis. He is on the campaign trail. I guess the idea is to stick to what you are good at and any intellectually honest observer can attest to the fact that slick, snake-oil salesman type campaigning is just about the only thing at which "The One" has proven a proficiency. It also seems fitting that during the Fort Myers, FL campaign stop, he responded to RINO Governor Charlie Crist's warm introduction as follows:

"This is not about partisan politics," Republican Gov. Charlie Crist said in introducing the Democratic president. "This is about rising above that." Trying to strike the same tone, Obama thanked Crist, saying: "When the town is burning, you don't check party labels. Everybody needs to grab a hose."

Actually everybody that attempts to live their lives responsibly "needs to grab" something because they are getting hosed! What Crist is doing is the opposite of "rising above", it is sinking to a low and slithering like a snake once that low is reached. I didn't see if Obama thanked Crist for his role in putting up the sacrificial Republican lamb who he defeated in November, but he definitely should have. I suppose Crist believes that if a portion of the massive pork bill is sent to Florida, he and his fellow bureaucrats can put it to good use and put the Floridians back to work. If this doesn't work out, he and his fellow bureacrats just need to ask for more the next time. Barack Obama has displayed an overwhelming arrogance... but of course the adoring leftist media portrays him as humble. He is willing to admit a mistake on the heels of a long line of tax cheat administration nominations after all. He is also prone to claiming that his victory in November means that the nation wants whatever Obama wants. The dangers of the uninformed electorate are being exposed now that it is too late. Of course, the dangers that are exposed will be reframed such that they don't affect the next election cycle. I've read comments regarding the fact that the Dems won in November and therefore are taking control, which is natural. Does the fact that they have a near super-majority mean that whatever they push is acceptable? The fact that a misled (giving the voters the benefit of the doubt) electorate gave the majorities and The White House to the libiots, does not automatically qualify their idiotic plans as acceptable. Is there a point at which the incremental socialization of our nation will become an issue to those who sneer at the mentions of Cuba or Venezuala as related to our plight? Will there be a point when people who might be inclined to poke fun at the inefficiency and waste associated with government wake up to the fact that more and more is falling under the control of the only thing that is growing, the wasteful and grotesquely ineffient government? Will there come a time when citizens will be hurt badly enough that they stop voting for their oppressors and the limp RINOs that serve as accessories to the theft of liberty?

Sebelius for Sec of Health & Inhuman Services?

Barack "Born Alive, Let Them Die" Obama continues to impress those that are witnessing his every historic movement, appointment, oration, and "ya know." That is, of course, with the small exception of folks that treasure liberty, responsibility, or innocent babies. The FFT (feckless fifty two percent) will likely take a moment's break from waiting for Obama's $400 million to study global warming as a means of stimulating the economy to applaud his choice (if the sick speculation pans out) of Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius to fill the role of HHS secretary. Governor Sebelius would be perfect ... if the post were the Secretary of Health and Inhuman Services. Of course the word "health" would be used in the manner that baby killing advocates use the phrase "women's health." (Obama might just as well ask tax cheat Tim Geithner to study issuing this year's income tax over-payment refunds in Planned Parenthood Gift certificates.) Whether it be honoring notorious late-term abortionist George Tiller or vetoing legislation that restricts late-term abortions Governor Sebelius has shown her substance as a powerful friend of infanticide. Our next HHS Secretary could be  friend to those who like "Dr." Tiller engage in activities such as the following, which was uncovered by an Operation Rescue undercover investigation:

A pregnant Operation Rescue volunteer named Shaye offered to participate in the undercover investigation of WHCS in October, 2008. In a sworn statement Shaye said that a WHCS employee conducted her sonogram and determined that her baby was 24 weeks, 6 days gestation, past the threshold of viability. The Tiller employee then tore off those ultrasound photos and threw them into the trash. She took new measurements, then told Shaye her baby was only 23 weeks gestation. Shaye easily obtained an appointment for an abortion without having to see the second physician required by law for post-viability abortions. In order to confirm the actual fetal age of Shaye’s baby, she received two more sonograms on that same day, both of which indicated the baby was beyond 24 weeks gestation. Shaye’s baby was undeniably past the threshold of viability. Shaye had made WHCS aware that both she and her baby were healthy and that the pregnancy was without complications. Shaye did not receive the abortion only because she did not show up for the abortion appointment.

At least Obama's base would be represented by this pick. After all, what could possibly take precedence over keeping NARAL and Emily's List on board for the next election cycle? These two death advocacy organizations oppose any legislation that might jeopardize a constitutional right to privacy. Isn't that noble sounding? That was Governor Sebelius' stated concern when she vetoed a bill that would have imposed restrictions on late term abortions. From April 22, 2008 in The Joplin Globe:

TOPEKA, Kan. — Gov. Kathleen Sebelius vetoed a bill Monday that would have imposed new restrictions on abortion providers and allowed lawsuits to block late-term procedures, arguing it could deny women lifesaving medical care.

But abortion opponents scoffed at her arguments and said Sebelius’ action shows that she holds radical views. Some supporters of the bill predicted an attempt to override Sebelius’ veto when the Legislature returns April 30 from its annual spring break.

The measure was partly a response to allegations that Dr. George Tiller has performed illegal late-term abortions at his Wichita clinic. Tiller, among the few U.S. physicians who perform such procedures, has said he follows state law.

Sebelius, an abortion-rights supporter, objected most strongly to provisions allowing a patient’s spouse or family members to go to court if they believed a doctor had performed or was about to perform an illegal late-term abortion. The patient herself also could sue, but so could a local prosecutor.

The governor said in her veto message that such a lawsuit could be filed to block a patient’s abortion “even where it may be necessary to save her life.” She said the bill would encourage litigation and jeopardize patients’ privacy.

I have yet to hear of an instance in which killing a baby is necessary to save the life of a mother. As a father, I cannot imagine that if one of my children were killed, it could be dismissed as none of my business based on the privacy rights of the person that requested the killing. Also as a father, I cannot fathom a governor or any other libiot scum politician enabling butchers like Tiller and statutory rapists secretly (parental notification) practice their respective vile activities on children in the name of privacy.

Do not fret squishy moderates, The Washington Obamost claims "Obama Plan Aims to Appease Both Sides of Abortion Issue", so this little "wedge-issue" will probably just go away. Barack The Uniter will utilize his legendary political artistry to acheive the perfect balance between federal funding for programs to curb teen pregnancy and federal funding for abortion mills here and abroad. I suppose I shouldn't focus on the barbaric evil that is exercised on children in the womb and just be thankful we have a leader that is willing to apply taxpayer dollars to both sides. Planned Parenthood, Dr. Tiller, The Hope Clinic in Granite City, IL and abortion mills everywhere surely find this type of spreading the wealth to be change they can believe in.

Try Saying Post-racial With a Straight Face

The "post-racial" candidate who formerly held the fictional Office of the President-elect, would likely be disappointed in the Washington Obamost's article, "Holder Seen as a Chance To Right Racial Wrongs." That is unless the "post-racial" idea was a campaign tool, selectively used much like his changing vocal accents and the varying degrees of his radicalism played to just the right level depending on his audience. Now that the dust has settled from the election and its subsequent unpleasant pageantry, we can see what a joke the "post-racial" notion was... courtesy of WaPo's Carrie Johnson and Krissah Thompson.

This week, Eric H. Holder Jr.'s swearing-in as the nation's first black attorney general and its top law enforcement official came weighted with heavy expectation that the system could change. Known as a prosecutor who was unflinchingly tough on crime, Holder, 58, is also a former civil rights lawyer who has mentored young black men. Many advocates view him as the best chance in decades to right what they consider unchecked racial injustice and insensitivity by federal officials. Civil rights advocates are already outlining a long list of priorities, including changing laws that lead to disproportionate prison terms for blacks, ending racial profiling and stepping up the policing of discrimination in employment and housing.

Hope and change apparently means amping up racial tension and fishing for injustices. The article suggests that black people are victims in our society and need an AG focused on their plight in order to receive just treatment. If these are Eric Holder's priorities, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton are going to need bigger safes. Of course Holder's priorities and motives shouldn't be questioned given his spotless record with the pardons of Marc Rich and FLAN terrorists. Do black people find it insulting when political parties, officials, hacks, or journalists imply that they are not equal to white people? I believe if there were articles, campaigns, or legislation proposals that insinuated that I, as a white person, needed special help and extra protection because my skin color doesn't allow me to help or protect myself, I would be offended. Racism is alive and well and these WaPo writers are counting on it. In 2009 Americans are expected to believe that men are sent to prison for being black:

"When we look at the prison system, it's a much worse situation than we had seen before the rise of the modern-day civil rights movement," said Mark Mauer, executive director of the group. "If current trends continue, one of every three black males today can expect to go to prison in their lifetime. It is one in every six for Hispanic men." Locally, four out of five D.C. prisoners are black men.

If we are not expected to believe that men are sent to prison for being black, then what is the point of the above excerpt? How is Holder going to address this disparity if there is more to it than color? I almost forgot "social and economic factors" are also joining white people in preying on black people and imprisoning them. If we rule out the possibility that the people in prisons are there because they have committed crimes, I suppose Holder is going to have to see to it that the black population get a social and economical leg up. If providing this leg up isn't in the Attorney General's job scope, I suppose he'll have to institute a quota system. It is only fair that for every person of one race that is prosecuted, one person from every other race be prosecuted as well. No, this won't work because some might be found not guilty. How about for every person of one race that is tried and found guilty, one person from every other race must also be pronounced guilty. Of course the sentences will be equal for the one that committed the crime and for those that haven't but meet the race requirement. This system may not do enough in the eyes of the racists so perhaps we can base the additional (other than the criminal) people sentenced on population percentage. If one black man is sentenced to prison and he lives in a jurisdiction that is 90% white and 10% black, nine white people would need to be sentenced to the same term. I fantasize about a society in which common sense has a place, in which The Constitution is respected, in which individuals are responsible for their own fortunes, and in which justice is appropriately named. Of course the race hustlers and other libiots would never allow such a society to exist.
